SOPA and PIPA

So my site was blacked out from early this morning until evening to participate in the SOPA Strike. I may sound like a broken record now but I’m quite passionate about spreading the word about this, as I’ve seen how horribly informed most people I know are about these two bills. The strike had a good effect, it made it to national news! It is a step in the right direction. The internet is just something we cannot allow the government to take control of. There’s still a fight ahead, please pass the word on about these things. Stay informed. If the government gets into the internet, our freedoms as we know it are at stake.

SOPA and PIPA are power grabs to control the internet. This would allow a firewall like that of China or Iran. Thankfully there has been progress made in the SOPA battle and it has been shelved, but there is still more to be done. PIPA is equally as dangerous.

Ok I’m a couple days early but just in case I don’t get around to posting it later. Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and an awesome New Year!
Seems so strange that the year is ending already… feels like only yesterday it started. Anywho, here’s a little painting I did up for this season.

The same filter that is used in China, Iran, and Syria would basically be implemented here in the United States. This gives the government and corporations that are lobbying for this the ability to remove ANYTHING they want. It doesn’t matter if it infringed copyrights or not. This will have a ripple effect to the whole internet. Please check out this video and if you live in the US contact your congress people, even if it’s just signing a petition. http://americancensorship.org/

My Grandfather = Inspector Clouseau

My grandmother went in to get her right hip replaced yesterday. Boy does that sound funny, but it’s amazing how they can just pull out an entire joint that’s pretty much essential to living and replace it then have that person up and walking that evening. Anyways, my grandfather was nervous, though he wouldn’t say it of course. That’s not a manly thing to do, and he turned into, what I like to call, a “Clouseau” (Pink Panther) while at the hospital.

When they first called us back to see her before the surgery he manages to trip over one of the doctor’s wheelie chairs, successfully landing with one knee to the floor. This all seemed to happen in slow motion too. Funny how that works. The nurse that was in the room almost successfully filled her drawers watching him go down. We got him back up and he sat down, regaining his composure, twiddling his thumbs and acting like nothing happened at all. Business as usual. The nurse told him to behave himself and to hold my hand on the way out. lol

He did manage to trip a little getting out of there, but I had shoved the wheelie chairs out of his line of travel, so nothing much happened. We got him to park himself in the waiting room and chill. He impatiently sat there waiting for the buzzer the nurse gave him to go off. Every buzzer in the room that went off made him jump for his. After the surgery was over we traveled to the next floor to wait. He was standing in the hallway and after about 30-40 minutes my grandmother finally shows up. She was still really out of it and drugged up. She couldn’t talk or anything just move her head and look around a little. When she was in place and set up, he went over to her bed and was leaning in to say goodbye and give her a kiss. He tripped again. The wheels on the bed weren’t locked so it started to roll off to the other side of the room, with him almost falling on her. My husband caught the bed so it quit moving but he looked at her heart monitor and saw that it had shot up about 10 points. I was watching her and her eyes were the size of pies and she gave my grandfather such a glare. The glare of I can’t do anything but if you stay around long enough I will try. The whole thing reminded me of a scene in the Pink Panther with Clouseau and Dreyfus. After that, we put the bed back in place and he again leaned in and was going to kiss her goodbye. He told her we were going to leave and her heart monitor instantly dropped a few points. I couldn’t help but laugh a bit.

I think from now on I’m going to keep any furniture with wheels on it away from him. Overall her surgery went really well though, they got her up on her feet that night to walk a bit and we got the old man home in one piece. We have success!

Been a while since my last update. I’ve been busy and just not real motivated to post blogs or reviews. Lots of new art is up though. Anyways this is just a little blip to wish everyone out there a Happy Thanksgiving! To those who do not celebrate this then have a wonderful day! XD

Just A Little Note

Why have I not updated since the 4th? Well… I have but only my art gallery. Why I haven’t blogged… well I’ve not watched any movies that are worth reviewing or bashing, and I haven’t really had anything interesting to say. So what I have been busy with is THIS.

The author of Jasper Sinclaire and I have got our own publishing company up and running! So take a look at that. It’s pretty cool if I may say so.

Otherwise I’ve just been busy working on art, pulling that site together and other random things. Most of the things I’ve had planned for this site have sat on the back burner for a bit just due to being busy, so I can’t say when I’ll get around to new tutorials or adding more goodies, but I hope it’ll be soon…

So that’s all for now folks!

Happy 4th of July to all you Americans! To those who aren’t well… have a good day too!
I commissioned a friend to make some keychains for me and I had her do this for our anniversary. They look really neat so I decided to show off the digital copy.
I’ve updated my pets’ page and if it’s not obvious I have a new layout. haha I’ll be tweaking small things and hopefully adding some more stuff to the “goodies” page too. For now… that is all!
