Anywho, the characters are interesting, none of them did I find really annoying. I didn’t like humpty dumpty that much, but I didn’t find him obnoxious, so that was a plus. Kitty Soft-Paws was great; I liked her a lot. Puss… well I always liked him, he’s pretty much the same as you see in the other films. The cast was put together well, all of them fit their roles rather nicely. The music was good! By the same composer as X-Men First Class, Henry Jackman. Had a good Latin theme to it, very up beat. I enjoyed it, and will probably buy the score.

The story was not really what I was expecting, but that’s fine by me. It was still a silly fairytale, but very much different from the Shrek series. I liked it more actually. I just hope if they make a sequel to this, cause you know it’ll happen if it sells well in the box office, that it won’t turn into another Shrek sequel. Anyways, the movie was pretty fast paced, I didn’t get bored with it.
I did not see this film in 3D, so I cannot comment on the effects in that realm, but I honestly don’t think you need to see it in 3D to appreciate it. It was fine the way it is. Will I recommend it in theaters, sure! 3D? Well if you want to fork over the extra $5 sure. It’s a nice popcorn flick, full of funny felines, good music, and a fun story; I’ll be getting on Blu-Ray when it comes out.

Otherwise I’ve just been busy working on art, pulling that site together and other random things.  Most of the things I’ve had planned for this site have sat on the back burner for a bit just due to being busy, so I can’t say when I’ll get around to  new tutorials or adding more goodies, but I hope it’ll be soon…

My dad was military, so inevitably that meant moving. We had been living on Edwards AFB, CA when he got orders to transfer to Peterson AFB, CO. That’s roughly a two day drive by car for those unfamiliar with the space between those states. So we packed everything up in our 4Runner and little one axle trailer and left for the Rockies.

Now my parents still had a cat of their original trio, Midnight, he was about eight-teen at the time we moved. My family has always had a cat. In fact there was never a moment growing up that we didn’t have at least one. Usually we had three, and at one time four. To keep each other company and then each person of the family can have their own cat. Though, as most who are familiar with cats know, the cat has to choose you specifically. So sometimes there was an imbalance, but typically my parents would have their own cat and I had mine. So with that in mind, they knew Midnight would not be too much longer for this world so they went on the hunt for a kitten, specifically one for me. I’m an only child, so a kitten would keep me company. They had two requirements, it must be male and either grey or black. Well one day my mother received a call that a grey kitten had just come in, they invited us out to take a look at it. I was just ecstatic at the thought of getting my very own kitten. Excitement rippled through me, this was a first!

After what seemed like forever to a child of seven, we got in the car and drove to the place. As we were welcomed in there was a small grey ball sitting on a table, and I loved him from the moment I saw him. The lady told us that one of the workers had named him Oliver. I liked that too, so it stuck. He had been dumped, how anyone could just throw away such a lovely cat I will never understand. After a bit of talking they got to the business of adopting him. The feisty little kitten pounced on the pen as my mother and the lady filled out paperwork. The workers there were sad to see Oliver leave, but they were happy to know he had a family now.

He was slipped into a little cardboard carrier and I got the job of sitting next to him in the car to make sure he would be ok and not tip over. Though the whole time I kept trying to get into the box to play with him. He would slip his little feet and legs through the holes in the box to get at my fingers, and every once in a while I’d catch a glimpse of tiny greenish-blue eyes looking up at me through one of them. I couldn’t wait to get him home and out of there to play with him. I think he was quite tired of the box himself, he would let out a few protesting squeaky meows on the way home announcing that he was ready to come out.

This was my first cat. My first friend since I had moved. I didn’t even know how much he’d come to mean to me as years went by, but this was the start to a wonderful relationship. A relationship between me and a cat named Oliver.

Been almost a year since he’s gone, so I painted something. Decided to make it a new speedpaint video for youtube.

Awesome cat. My laptop fan is grinding and in general being a pita so I haven’t used it in a bout a week now. I will take it to get fixed soon. I had a mobo lying around with some other parts so I’ve managed to put a barebones PC together, I just need to put an operating system on it now and then I should be able to take off. Having no computer of my own has really killed my motivation to work on anything digital. XD

But anyways, my little bugaboo passed on Thursday.  He was becoming terribly thin due to the thickening of his intestine walls, he couldn’t digest his food properly and it was really taking it’s toll.  So he was put down.  I’m happy he lived for as long as he did.  1994-2010, 16 years.  I’m gonna miss him so much.

Rest in peace baby. You were the best childhood companion I could have ever had. We went through good and bad times, you were always there for me when I needed you most.

You were my playmate, my comforter, my backyard adventurer, crazy catnip licking loony, back flipping string chasing cat. Even when you got senile and only wanted food, I miss that too. Petting my sandwich thinking it would get you a bite. Always sitting at the door to the kitchen with giant eyes waiting for something to fall on the floor. Or stealing silverware outta the sink to lick it clean.

I miss you so much, I miss your tiny meow that didn’t match your body, I miss those brilliant green eyes. Nothing will ever replace you. You’ve joined your other mates now, you don’t suffer from anything anymore, and I pray I see you again. Till then you’ll always be in my heart, I remember and cherish all the great times we had together.

Other stuff of my bugaboo:

Just random pluggage for my kitty. Yes he loves pancakes, well he’ll eat just about anything really, but hey! XD

Since Disney’s track record with 3D movies, where they have gone solo with no help from Pixar, has been really pretty bad I had no expectations for this movie other than low. The trailers made it look like another spazzy 3D animal movie with overused jokes. Thankfully I was really surprised it’s actually worth watching.

The story was predictable in the disney way, but there were no really overused jokes in it and the humor that was there wasn’t forced. The characters were well done, even though I absolutely hated the hamster I couldn’t help but laugh at some of the dumb things he would do. The only character I didn’t like at all was Penny, but she didn’t have a huge part in the movie. Mittens and Bolt were my favs, and it’s funny I usually never like the main characters the best. Amazing, there was no singing in it! Well one song that played in the background but no characters burst into a musical number. The score was ok, not really outstanding but not bad either. The animation was stellar, like with all Disney movies. I found most of the characters’ designs attractive too, so that was another plus to the movie.

Overall I’d say it’s worth watching, maybe even buying. So far it is the best 3D film Disney has produced yet.
