What else is new… well I’ve always got a steady flow of art being posted. I might be making some more line art in the near future to upload and some new desktops so keep an eye on that section. Other than that I’ve been keeping up with my pet project Mithmeoi Comics. I have been posting two comic pages a month. They’re just random and humorous, though I am working on an actual comic, it might still be quite a while before I ever get something started on it.

I’ve got the 3rd Jasper Sinclaire book to work on now. I’ve updated that site too. It still needs some TLC but hey it’s better looking than it was a month or two ago.

I found a bunch of old art so I threw together a slide show and made some commentary.

Been almost a year since he’s gone, so I painted something. Decided to make it a new speedpaint video for youtube.

I been busy finishing off artwork for others. I’ve gone through 116 soda icons! Holy moo cow was that a lot. Designed six characters for someone, that was pretty fun. Once I can I’ll post a little preview of them.

Yeah, not appreciated. I’ve had it happen more than once in the last six months and it really irks me. People don’t think for a moment that maybe THEY aren’t being as original as they think. That sometimes coincidences just happen.
For example, I drew of bunch of people I know as furbys. It’s not THAT original of an idea, but I did it as a joke. I posted it just to show it and lol at it. I then had someone come by and say that VERY comment up there. The best thing of all is I had never seen the person they were referring to in my life. They acted like I was going to steal money or something from that person too, I wasn’t even taking commissions for them. 8D

Then I had it happen again just recently with some icons I’m working on because they have soda cans in them, I’m so obviously copying someone else. That same stupid comment was used by another person. I found out the artist who started doing icons with soda cans in them over a month ago is now pissed at me for something I couldn’t have known. I obviously stole her idea since I only started mine two weeks ago. It was again someone I’d never heard of before. REALLY AWESOME! Even though the icons look nothing alike and mine was just random arse inspiration at the time.

So there’s something I find really obnoxious. It kind of goes along with my post on art vigilantes but in this case it’s usually someone who chats with the artist rather than just watches. If the artist has an issue they should man up and actually talk to me rather than saying how pissed they are at me to everyone they know.

That’s another thing I don’t understand SO many people can’t just tell someone else what they REALLY think. It’s like oh I’m going to upset them better not say anything, and then miscommunication ensues! Or that’s when they say “Cue the white lies!” People have been sissified over the years. Most kids these days can’t handle any sort of critique or they scream at you saying you’re being rude and mean. I really hate how things are so politically correct now. >:(

So that’s my rant for the day. So now my question to the reader! What’s something you find this new generation lacks compared to the “old days”?

This movie is funny right off the bat. Starts out with a bang and never really slows down. Even the “emotional” moments aren’t boring. Which I find kind of rare as of late. Most movies I’ve seen either have felt rushed at points or boring and drawn out, like the writers couldn’t find a good balance. Anyways, there are two actors in it that are kind of a surprise to see. I won’t say who for those who haven’t seen it yet, I don’t want to spoil it. They only end up in it for maybe ten minutes but while they’re there they steal the show.

The movie is PG-13, for good reason, some of the humor is pretty adult, or would be way above a child’s head. So definitely not a family movie. It’s a pretty good Friday night out film, though seeing it on the big screen isn’t a must as there’s nothing real spectacular effects-wise. I’d definitely recommend checking it out on DVD if you wanna save a few bucks rather than going to the cinema.

As for other stuff! The book I’ve worked on the last three and half months has finally made it to the printer! It’s exciting! We’re going to be launching a domain for this series soon too! I get to be in charge of that. I’m pretty jazzed about that. I’ll be posting updates about it here from time to time and maybe some of the art once the book is read to be publicized. Then I can finally show the world what it’s gonna be about. Woot!

“You don’t know what the **** you are doing with this piece, the angles are totally off. Did you even try?”

Harsh much? Although this IS an opinion it is really written in a nasty tone. If you are going to state an opinion about something it’s best to say something like oh it’s not too bad but I think this could have been improved on. Never just bash something if you want to remain on the artist’s good side. Unless you’re a troll and have nothing better to do with your life than to piss people off.

It’s also really annoying when someone attempts to critique but they don’t know how. The art of good critiquing has been lost.

“The face looks wrong”
“Ok how should I fix it?”
“I dunno the face just looks wrong.”
“Ok well… what do you think is wrong about it?”
“I don’t know it just doesn’t look right.”

That’s about as helpful as headphones are to a deaf person. Seriously. If you can’t help, don’t say anything at all cause chances are the artist already knows of the flaw just doesn’t know how to fix it. I know some people want to help, they can see a flaw they just don’t’ know what to suggest, but regardless it’s still pretty annoying.

The other that really annoys me is when an artist either says they take critique or they don’t mind it and then they rage at you for trying to give them help. I get this often enough. People will enable critique on their deviant art account or say in the comments they want critique then they either get angry at me and yell, delete my comment, or they say oh thank you for the critique, then they finish their piece and totally ignore everything I have suggested. The last one annoys me the most, they know of the issues, they even say I have good points, but they refuse to even try to better the piece. It’s either their too lazy or too arrogant to take any kind of help from anyone.

If you ever critique a piece of art, or just want to give an honest opinion, my tip is always say something positive to balance out the negative in it. It’s ok to be blunt, but just make sure it’s not mean or won’t come across as you are just trying to put the artist down. Granted there are some artists out there that are WAY too sensitive to even a blunt but still nice critique and they kind of need a kick in the pants, but there are many that like a good critique so long as it’s balanced.

I know I have blabbed about this before but this is just something that annoys the spit out of me. I have another rant but I’ll save that for the next entry.
So now my question of the week for you folks, what is something that annoys you badly and why?
